Yoseikan Aikido and Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Demostration at the Butokuden in Kyoto.

An Unforgettable Moment: Ricardo Sanz at the Butokuden in Kyoto

Recently, I had the honor of performing a demonstration of Daito Ryu Aikibudo and Yoseikan Aikido at the historic Butokuden in Kyoto. This sacred place, the birthplace of traditional Japanese martial arts, is more than just a dojo; it is a symbol of the rich heritage and discipline that these arts embody.

Upon entering the Butokuden, I felt a mix of nervousness and deep reverence. The walls of this venerable place are infused with the energy and spirit of masters who have dedicated their lives to the study and perfection of their arts. Each step on the tatami resonated with the history and tradition of generations of warriors and practitioners.

During the demonstration, I experienced a profound connection with the roots of Daito Ryu Aikibudo and Yoseikan Aikido. Each movement flowed not only from technique but from the heart, reflecting years of practice, dedication, and love for these arts. I felt the presence of my teachers and the legacy of the ancient samurai, guiding each technique and every breath.

The energy in the Butokuden was palpable. The spectators, colleagues, and teachers present all shared a unique bond through our passion for Budo. The atmosphere was filled with mutual respect and admiration, creating an environment where art and spirituality met in perfect harmony.

As the demonstration ended, a wave of emotions overwhelmed me: gratitude, humility, and a deep sense of accomplishment. Being part of this tradition and having the opportunity to share my interpretation of Daito Ryu Aikibudo and Yoseikan Aikido at the Butokuden was a dream come true.

This moment will remain etched in my heart, constantly reminding me of the beauty of the martial way and the importance of preserving and transmitting these valuable teachings. Thanks to everyone who made this unforgettable experience possible.
