The research group was established in 2018 under the supervision of master Yoshimochi Kiyoshi (1945 - 2020), the 12th Soke, director, of the Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu school. Its purpose is to deepen the study, preservation, and dissemination of the historical, technical, cultural, and philosophical legacy of Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu, founded in the 17th century by Miyamoto Musashi, and transmitted alongside the Sekiguchi Ryu school by the 8th Soke, Aoki Kikuo, in Kumamoto, Japan.
Objectives of the Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu Kenkyukai:
- Historical research and documentation: Analyze and document historical texts and records related to Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu and Miyamoto Musashi, delving into their context and significance.
- Study of origins and expansion: Conduct thorough research on the origins, expansion, and evolution of Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu throughout the centuries.
- Recovery of historical documentation: Recover and acquire key documents, such as manuscripts and publications, to enrich the knowledge and understanding of the style.
- Development of educational materials: Create educational and digital resources for the preservation of Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu's legacy, facilitating future research and access to information.
- Structured training and faithful transmission: Ensure the continued faithful transmission of the style's principles and philosophy through a structured curriculum based on reliable historical sources.
- Access to verified information: Provide access to verified and well-founded information about Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu to both members of the group and anyone interested in learning about the style.
General purpose:
The Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu Kenkyukai aims to ensure that the tradition, principles, and teachings of the Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu martial art and the work of Miyamoto Musashi remain alive and accessible for future generations. The group also seeks to contribute to the understanding and authentic practice of the style, guaranteeing its preservation for the future.
