Over the past few years, the regular practice and teaching of the various martial disciplines in which I am involved were interrupted by exceptional circumstances. The pandemic initially forced all activities to cease and, later, after contracting COVID-19, I went through a prolonged recovery process that significantly limited, for several years, my ability to train and teach with the continuity, commitment, and standards that these disciplines require.
I would like to begin this new stage by sincerely thanking everyone who, throughout this period, has shown concern for me and asked about my health. Your interest, support, and kindness have been especially appreciated during what has been a long and complex period.
This was never a matter of abandoning these disciplines, but rather of acting responsibly. Martial arts require constant practice, preparation, continued development, and consistency in teaching. Maintaining merely occasional or nominal instruction would not have been consistent with the way I understand their practice, study, and transmission.
During the past season, training sessions, courses, and other activities were gradually resumed. This period has allowed me to regain familiarity and confidence in practice, review the training programmes, and confirm that the appropriate conditions are now in place to begin a new, considerably more active and stable stage.
From this season onwards, alongside the continuation of instruction with a professional and functional focus specifically intended for the Private Security sector, the teaching and promotion of Nihon Jujutsu / Taijutsu – Self Defence and Nihon Kobudō will gradually resume on a recreational basis.
One of the main objectives will be to establish a stable training group made up of people who are genuinely interested in practising consistently, while at the same time creating suitable opportunities for new students to join and begin their training.
On a personal level, this new stage also represents a renewed commitment to my own training. I intend to increase significantly both the volume and regularity of my practice, with the aim of progressively recovering my technical level and physical condition following the prolonged interruption caused by health-related circumstances. This is not simply a return to teaching; it is also a return to serious, consistent, and demanding training.
The aim is to rebuild a solid training routine that will allow us to restore technical and physical standards, work once again in greater depth through the different programmes, and establish a stable foundation for the future development of each discipline.
Each discipline will retain its own identity, purpose, and methodology. In the classical martial arts — Nihon Kobudō — particular attention will be devoted to the accurate transmission of technique and principles, together with their historical and cultural context. In Taijutsu – Self-Defence and in professional training programmes, priority will instead be given to functionality, adaptation to the specific context of application, and a methodology consistent with the actual needs of those for whom the training is intended.
Throughout this new stage, regular training sessions, courses, seminars, meetings, and specific training activities will gradually be developed, always founded upon consistent and sustained practice.
Those who have trained with us previously will have the opportunity to resume their practice, while those approaching these disciplines for the first time will be able to begin from the fundamentals and develop progressively.
Everyone is welcome to take part in this new stage.
After these years, the purpose is clear: to return to training with intensity and consistency; to fully recover my physical condition and technical level; to establish a strong and committed group of practitioners; and to continue studying, understanding, practising, and transmitting the martial arts with rigour and with respect for their identity, principles, and purpose.
Banri Ikku !
